I guess that’s why they call it The Blues.

Today I want to share a few tracks that fall under the very broad heading of The Blues.

Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1870s by African-Americans from roots in African musical traditions, African-American work songs, and spirituals. Blues incorporates spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed ballads. The blues form is ubiquitous in jazz, rhythm and blues and rock and roll. Practically every form of music you hear today has roots based in The Blues.

It is still going today and Pam and I are very fond of going to Blues gigs and the music I have chosen today are bands we have seen in the last 30 years or so.

The Nimmo Brothers are a Scottish band, The Hamsters hail from Essex (Canvey Island actually), Jay Tamkin is a young guitarist from the West Country and Will Wilde is a brilliant Harmonica player. It is very good to see that there are a lot of young people flying the flag for The Blues.

I hope you enjoy them………..

Keith.
